RADAR R08 · PATTERN
Coding agents are getting a management layer
What SOTO observed
Six independent teams now ship a control surface for running many coding agents at once: OpenAI's Symphony, an open spec that turns a Linear board into the control plane; Anthropic's redesigned Claude Code desktop app for parallel sessions; and the open-source tools T3 Code, cmux, Superset and Agent Orchestrator, each with more than 12,000 GitHub stars.
Why it matters
If agents work unattended, the product moves from the model to the layer that assigns, supervises and reviews their work. Whoever owns that layer owns the developer's daily surface; it is also where the labs compete with independent tools.
Would confirm
- A lab or GitHub makes its own orchestration surface the default way to use its coding agent.
- One of the independent tools launches a paid plan or announces funding.
- An enterprise names an orchestrator as part of its standard engineering stack.
Would invalidate
- Labs fold orchestration into their own apps and independent tools lose usage.
- Developers report that running many agents at once does not raise shipped output.

History
- 2026-10-04: Entered the record as a pattern: six independent products were already public. It is the management side of R01, where agents get their own computers.
