Agents are getting their own email addresses
What SOTO observed
AgentMail sells email inboxes for AI agents. Software can create an inbox through an API, attach a custom domain with SPF, DKIM and DMARC set up, and give a model access through an MCP server. Its site says an inbox gives an agent a verifiable address it can use to sign up for services and receive confirmations. It lists a free tier of 3 inboxes and 3,000 emails a month (checked Oct 4, agentmail.to).
Why it matters
An address is how an agent signs up, gets a confirmation and proves who it is. If agents hold addresses of their own, email becomes part of the identity and communication layer, next to the computers (R01) and the way to pay (R05) agents are already getting.
Would confirm
- A second company ships email inboxes for agents.
- A production agent signs up for a third-party service using its own inbox.
Would invalidate
- Large services block sign-ups from programmatically created addresses, and agents fall back to human-owned ones.
History
- 2026-10-03: Detected: an email-for-agents provider offering API-created inboxes, custom domains and an MCP server.
